She received her bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Istanbul Bilgi University and her master’s degree in Fashion and Textile Design from NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in Milan. She completed her Proficiency in Art (equivalent to a practice-based doctorate) at Marmara University, where her research examined the role of activist art in labor rights struggles within the textile and ready-made garment industry.

She is currently a faculty member in the Department of Textile and Fashion Design at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Istanbul Okan University.

As a campaigner with the Clean Clothes Campaign Turkey, Yücelen develops creative communication strategies that support the labor rights struggles of textile workers. This experience directly informs and enriches her artistic practice.

In her work, she approaches textiles and craftsmanship not merely as production techniques but as a means of exploring personal memory, intergenerational transmission, and invisible forms of labor. Her recent works focus on the intersections between the personal stories embedded in textiles and the social and political dimensions of labor.
