The exhibition “Lifting The Veil” and the participatory art project, open to participate local women and created in collaboration between Eda Emirdağ and Nathalie Rey, will take place on September 9, 2024, at Ekşidere Village Coffee House, the exhibition space of Montag Residency.
This exhibition delves into the often painful family narratives shared by women. The artists aim to alleviate these stories’ traumatic burdens by bringing selected images from family archives to the surface in the form of photographs and objects. By questioning and reinterpreting concepts such as family ties, cultural heritage, and archives, the exhibition serves a healing purpose.
The village café setting invites the memories of local women to be part of the exhibition. Through these objects and photographs, the connection between memory and community is explored, offering viewers a chance to engage with the power of both individual and collective memory. The exhibition encourages regional women to ease the burdens of the past and discover the strength in their stories.
